Modbus is a data communications protocol that enables data to be exchanged between a master and multiple slaves. It is a popular automation communication protocol and supports the connection of industrial electronic devices. Modbus can coexist simultaneously with Ethernet TCP/IP at the same physical interface. The data are sent via TCP/IP packets.
This Modbus TCP App allows the ctrlX CORE devices to be connected to other third-party devices via Modbus TCP as Client as well as Modbus TCP Server can also be configured. No PLC is necessary to operate the app. The data from the Modbus devices is directly available for all Apps on the ctrlX CORE via the real-time Data Layer. They can be read and written.
The Modbus TCP is configured in the web interface as well as in the Data Layer of the ctrlX CORE or REST-API interface.
The Modbus TCP Server enables, among other things, to connect Modbus-based visualizations to a ctrlX device, with the advantage that you can map directly to Data Layer nodes of the ctrlX device.
The Modbus app is supporting the following features
Communication with Modbus network
Configuration of the Modbus device
Configuration of the Modbus server
Administration of the Modbus device
User permissions
REST-API interface
