If XMS does not use XVR, can it be powered by an external DC power supply? If possible, is there anything special to pay attention to?

All XMS, XMD and even XCS or XCD can be powered by an external DC bus voltage power supply. Mind that you may need additional components like
- mandatory DC bus capacitances XLC to smoothen the DC bus voltage (--> 47 μF needed per kilowatt [kW] of continuous power)
- mandatory DC bus adaptor XAS4 to connect the 3rd party DC bus power supply unit to the ctrlX DRIVE package --> note the specified limitations in the manual
- DC bus chokes XLL to balance the current if needed
- additional Y capacitances to avoid floating DC bus voltage to ground at XE if needed
