Motion Task Type : Cyclic vs External

When I add the template Axisinterface my Motiontask automatically goes to External and synchronise with the Ethercat. Is this recommended?

Why am I able to enter a different time for the interval? I don't understand that.

Also, I can select 'cyclic' mode using the same timing as the EtherCAT bus.

Does that have any negative side effects?

The task "MotionTask" is set to external to be able to run synchronized to the realtime task ctrlXAUTOMATION (including ctrlX MOTION and ctrlX EtherCAT).

The interval time setting is always available as this page/tab is a standard one, but will not have any influence on the the timing.

For sure it can be set to cyclic, but then it will not longer be aligned to the rest of the realtime system.
