Core variable acquisition and OPC UA push to ibapda – license, data point limits, SD card, PLC license, and OS version

Hi everyone😎 ,

Currently, my customer is using 2× ML65 and 1× ML75 PLCs. I am planning to use a Core X7 to acquire variables from these PLCs and push the data via OPC UA into the customer’s ibapda system.

While configuring this setup in the configurator, I have a few questions:

  1. Besides the OPC UA Server and OPC UA Client licenses, do I need any additional software licenses to enable variable acquisition and OPC UA pushing?

  2. What are the limitations regarding the maximum number of variables for different Core devices (X3, X5, X7) in this scenario?

    • For example, in PR21 the IoT Advanced option is limited to 500 data points. How does it look for the Core devices?

  3. For this kind of variable acquisition and OPC UA push, is it necessary to purchase an SD/memory card, or is it only needed in case of local data logging/backup?

  4. If I only need the variable acquisition and OPC UA push functionality, is it correct that I don’t need to purchase any PLC license at all?

  5. When selecting a Core X7, there are OS variants (01, 02, 03, vs). What are the differences, and how should I select the right one for my configuration?

  6. Is there an up-to-date license/selection manual/PPT available? If yes, could you please share a copy with me?

Thanks in advance for your support!
