For ctrlX you need a license. but there both the runtime and designer license are installed within the same license file.
Via license portal you can order for free a 10 day trial license for ctrlX and for the engineering PC.
The 30 day trial license from SmartHMI may not work because of proxy settings within your company. You have to check this.
