With the Smart Function Kit Pressing, the Italian mechanical engineering company S.EL.ME.C. has come up with a cutting-edge servo press for assembling vehicle engines in a short time. The intuitive operating soft- ware allows quick commissioning of the electromechanical subsystem. The joining force and distance are visualized, assessed and stored accurately.

Established in 1982, S.EL.ME.C has relied on Bosch Rexroth for many years when it comes to minimizing the time to market for its automation solutions. When designing an electric servo press for the high-speed assembly of vehicle engines, the machine manufacturer ordered a complete electromechanical subsystem for the first time, thus saving valuable time during engineering, assembly and commissioning.

Plug & produce with zero programming

The Smart Function Kits combine mechanical and electrical components from Rexroth with intuitive operating software to create a ready-to-use subsystem. The selection, configuration and ordering process is fully digital. The servo press is assembled in advance and comes with preinstalled operating software. This reduces the installation, commissioning and process creation time to a minimum. Once connected, the drive parameterizes itself automatically, while a software wizard guides you intuitively through the set-up process.

Visual program creation using Drag & Drop modules replaces the hitherto highly complex programming and parametrization process. Using an integrated data interface, the Smart Function Kit Pressing transfers the process data including the force-travel curve straight to the IT system for quality assurance and analysis. This means much greater transparency during production! And the cycle time too is impressive: A new pressing cycle starts every 5.5 seconds.
