To give a better overview in a ctrlX Configurator topology, sometimes it is helpful to show further products, which are not part of the ctrlX Configurator product range.
It's realized in the Add products section under Graphic elements with user defined products and Infrastructure components.
There are 12 predefined product types available.
User defined products:
Control, I/O Station, IPC, Mobile HMI, Stationary HMI, Drive, Motor
Infrastructure products:
Switch, Router, Engineering PC, Cloud, Other
Each product has a preset number of connection ports with assigned connection type. The number of connections can be changed to a maximum of 16. Any of the connection types that are possible in the ctrlX configurator can be assigned to the individual ports. In addition the values "No connection selected" and "Undefined connection" can be selected. Ports with "No connection selected" cannot be connected to any other product with any other product ports. A product with an "Undefined connection" can be connected to any other product with the same connection type. This can be used, if the required connection type is not available in the ctrlX configurator.
For motors there is a possibility to key in a value for discharge capacitance (motor + motor cable) and for drives a value for capacitance against housing can be set. If the motor is connected via drive to a DC bus, these values will be considered in the selection of the mains filter of the drive line.
All ctrlX products can be connected to user defined products as well as user defined products to each other, if the connection types are matching. There is no logical restrictions for connecting user defined products.
When connecting user defined products to any other product, the connection is shown as a dashed line in Graphic view. Specific cables cannot be selected and shown in the List view due to not available information of the user defined product ports.
