I have a Siemens MTP Unifed panel that is going to be connected to a CORE X5 over OPC UA. During the engineering process I'm trying to connect the HMI and PLC tags together.

I use the Endpoint URL "opc.tcp://VirtualControl-1:4840" from the OPC UA server, but it doesn't connect. Same if I use the IP address instead of "VirtualControl-1".

Should it be possible with a VirtualControl or only with a physical CORE ?

What are the prerequisites for using a third-party controller that has CtrlX OS installed on it as ethercat master or is it even possible?

I want to use the ctrlX CORE as a Profinet device for a Profinet controller, where the ctrlX handles all motion control locally via PLC. The master only sends basic top-level commands like start, stop, home, etc. – no real-time motion data.

I see that Profinet communication in CODESYS is possible via the softstack on ctrlX CORE X3. However, the PROFINET DEVICE page states the softstack is "not certifiable". What does this exactly mean (e.g., no PI certification, conformity issues?), and is it a good choice for our application with low data rates?

Additionally, there's the COREplus X3 with extra RJ45 ports specifically for Profinet devices – when is this better than the standard X3 with softstack?

Are there known cycle times for the CODESYS Profinet softstack (e.g., typical values for basic I/O)? And what is generally recommended for this kind of setup (softstack, Device App, hardware extension), including pros and cons?

Our cliente have an Ethernet IP network and We must install a system controlled by this protocol. How do I connect CtrlX to the client's network? I got the license R911420593 (ethernet IP Adapter) from the Ctrlx configurator, but in the portal it shows as "under development" or "prototype"

Do you know if it's available? Who should I contact? Is there another way to solve this?

However, the WinStudio application on the VR2104 only shows “????” for values.

I followed the instructions given in the attached “How to” PDF  (“How to get connection between WinStudio and ctrlXCore update 02_23.pdf”), but I’m not able to figure out what the problem is.

Here are the steps that I followed:

1. Configuration of the OPC-UA server on the ctrlX CORE

For the Endpoints, I configure “NONE” and “BASiC256SHA256” to be the same as the PDF

2. Configuration of the OPC-UA connection and Security Settings in WinStudio

After setting the Server Connection for the X3 Connection, I clicked the “Test Connection” button, and it successfully connected to the X3.

The Security Settings were set for “NONE-NONE”.

3. Here is how my OPC Sheet is configured.

I created a simple project with just a single rectangle object that changes color based on a Boolean variable and displays the value of a counter (Integer).

After starting the project, the color always remains red, and “????” are displayed for the value of the counter.

6. I verified that I can ping both IP Addresses from laptop, so I’m confident that the network cables are connected.

7. When I Start the Application from my laptop, I can see the value of the counter, and the color of the rectangle toggles between red and green.

What do I need to do to get the VR21 to communicate with the OPC-UA server in the X3?

1. “security” configuration of OPC UA sever set to "NONE" ，“ test connection” can be succeed in IWS 14V22P20 and failed in IWS 15V22P1,  but in the 14v22 project , some variables of BOOL on HMI can read status from PLC and  can't write ，while some of real and int can't read and write ，it seems  partially communication with PLC, this problem happened after I delete some unused variables from WinStudio-- Application variable list.

2. “security” configuration of OPC UA sever set to "BASIC256..."，the certificates can't transfer to OPC UA APP ，look at the video in attachment ，maybe any step I operate isn't right？  

I prefer to use ‘NONE’ security with 15V22P1，it is easier to use for customer.

I am testing the Modbus App version 3.6.3 (last LTS version)n and the possibility to configure a client or a server with the REST API interface.

Inside the API reference test part, it is possible to configure the client but I don't see the server :

Is it possible to configure server part with the REST API interface?

If yes, where could I find the documentation? If no, do you plan to integrate it in a next version?

I have a few questions regarding a planned architecture for welding data acquisition and analytics with BOS 6000 and ctrlX CORE, and I would appreciate your clarification.

Planned setup

• Customer welding controllers: BOS 6000

• Data acquisition via BOS 6000 IoT Connector

• Communication protocol: MQTT

• On ctrlX CORE:

  • Cedalo / Eclipse Mosquitto MQTT Broker

  • Telegraf

  • InfluxDB

  • IoT Dashboard

• Goal: analyze and visualize welding process and quality data

Question 1 – MQTT Connections

In the ctrlX Store license selection, the Mosquitto MQTT Broker license is specified by the number of connections (e.g. 110 or 1100 connections).

• What exactly does “connections” mean in this context?

• If the customer has one line PC (IPC) running the BOS 6000 IoT Connector, and this IPC is connected to 24 BOS 6000 welding controllers,
  → does this count as 1 MQTT connection to the Mosquitto broker, since only the IoT Connector establishes the MQTT connection?

Question 2 – BOS 6000 IoT Connector Protocol Support

Regarding the BOS 6000 IoT Connector:

• As far as I understand, the BOS 6000 IoT Connector currently supports MQTT for data transmission.

• Can you please confirm whether OPC UA is not supported by the BOS 6000 IoT Connector at the moment?

Question 3 – InfluxDB Storage / Memory Extension

For using InfluxDB on ctrlX CORE as a real-time time-series database:

• Is it required or recommended to select the “ONBOARD EXTENSION – Memory 80 GB” option for this use case?

• When selecting the 80 GB memory extension, the material number changes to “Not available” in the configurator:

We are currently testing PROFINET communication between ctrlX X5 and Fiji’s PLC (TYPE NP1PUP‑048). An error occurs on the Fiji PLC saying “GSDML‑DEVICEPROFILE‑V2.44.XSD is not found.”
It seems that this file does not exist in the ctrlX GSD package, but is it available in the Collaboration Room?
Or is there another way to resolve this issue?
