Licensing API webserver
Hi team, Is it possible to acquire ctrlX Works licenses via REST API? It seems possible to query capabilities. But I failed to acquire and delete licenses. I launched ctrlX with following port 4242. & "C:\Program Files\ctrlX WORKS\ctrlX WORKS\4.6.0\ctrlx-works.exe" --port=4242 // ... curl commands according to licensing API using localhost// Reasons: We our windows app want to add some new feature that is only on linux and it is no possible to to migrate feature to Windows. We are considering following solution: Migrate windows App to Linux and but still get original Windows License from ctrlX Works. This is why I am asking Licensing API. As a workaround, we ask our user to install WSL or docker so that our App can communicate with it. (ideally we don't want to make that new feature as new product) Thanks for your time. Hello Community, I am following the guide for connecting a ctrlX CORE with an Elmo Drive using the CXA_PLCOpen library. The function blocks are working correctly, and I am able to control the motor successfully. However, I am encountering an issue when using the MC_Home function block. The homing parameters configured in the Elmo EAS III software are not retained after a restart. Once the drive is rebooted, the homing settings revert to their initial/default values. ctrlX IO Engineering PDO Content: I am trying to pull out the parameters so i can edit the homing parameter values from my PLC program instead of using the ELMO EAS III software. Hi team, My ctrlX Works 4.6 fails to start the virtual core and got following error. "the requested operation requires elevation" I upgraded ctrlX Works to version 4.6 and installed virtual core 4.6 images from Collabration room, The last information was that ctrlX Works tried to create virtual ethernet adapter. Hello, We're going to start a new project, order new PLC's but I'm little confused about CtrlX versions. I couldn't find a clear distinction between 2.6 and 3.6 versions, other than "Release cycle". Is the latest version is 3.6, so should we start with it? Is there any limitations on 3.6 or unsupported features? Like if a tutorial explain something in 2.6 or 1.20, would it also work on 3.6? For example, we are going to use a Kassow robot, and I'm planning to use https://community.boschrexroth.com/ctrlx-automation-how-tos-qmglrz33/post/connect-kassow-robots-rc-with-ctrlx-plc-via-profinet-7mrCU4WMddc5jAP this tutorial but I'm not sure if there is any issues or not. We are trying to install "ctrlX Works 3.6.0" and the associated IO and PLC software under Windows Server 2022 (21H2). The software is installed on "D:\" but Works displays a path exception error. The PLC software starts but after shows "write option" issues. Hello, I want to add a new customized mapping for "fieldbuses/ethercat/master/instances/ethercatmaster/realtime_data/output/data". For this, I have created a new node in "fieldbuses/ethercat/master/instances/ethercatmaster/realtime_data/output/maps-custom" (see attachements). Hi, The IndraWorks Engineering was fully integrated & powerful software than the ctrlX engineering tools.. It feels complicated to handle the various software patches to work with an application. can we get any integrated version of ctrlX works which includes all modules (IOE, PLE, works suite, Drive engineering, Cam designer & very importantly the offline help) of engineering softwares in single patch. this is also complicating the further process of managing the different backup of the application. 304/18/2026Use ctrlX core Virtual on Linux Host
Hello, As ctrlx Core run very slowly on a virual machine due to HW acceleration , our customer wants to use ctrlx Core virual direcly in a linux based PC. the customer tried somes images (the official one or the ctrlx Core Virtual image created on ctrlx Works), but it is always detected as a real ctrlx OS image, so it is requring licenses to make it running, do you know how can we install ctrlx Core virtual on Linux Host ? Creating offline project using ctrlX DRIVE engineering does not allow (no drop down menu) for selecting different master field bus option. Only selectable option in the drop down menu is either the analog or EtherCat SoE. I would like to programm stuff only inside the IDE app (visual coding). But I want to test my program with test variables that would represent sensors for example and I want to be able to change their values at any time. Therefore I would like to use the Data Layer of the ctrlX CORE(virtual). My idea is to start/run my program in the IDE app and then change the values of some variables directly via the Data Layer and test my IDE program logic like this. If I use the Datalayer blocks "create value ... in path "..."" or "read value form path "..."" then it simply does not work. Of course in general the first question is if that is the right approach. My goal is to NOT use the PLC (app) for this and also NOT use ctrlX PLC Engineering on Windows for this. My real question now is: How is it possible to find a suitable path in the Data Layer where the IDE app should then publish the values of the variables and also read other values of other variables? Do I need to create (a) path(s) for this or is/are there already (a) path(s) for this/the IDE app? Because when I configure variables in the IDE app for the data layer, then I need to enter an adress/a path and there is no explanation which one I could/should use or If I even can create a new one like this. And if it is not possible to create a path in the Data Layer directly out of the IDE app, how is it possible then out of the ctrlX CORE(virtual)? For example I would like to create a test variable "sensor_virtual_data_layer" in the data layer and read the value of this variable inside of the IDE program in the IDE app to make a "if" decision. And vice versa I would like to write the value of a test variable "test_variable_IDE_app" into a corresponding variable in the Data Layer "test_variable_data_layer". Belonging to this question I assume, that the variables I create inside my IDE app program are not automatically published/findable in the Data Layer for example in a path reserved for the IDE app like "IDE_app/test_project/test_variable_IDE_app". Is that correct? If yes, how do I create a path or where do I find one for my purpose, which is my question I described above. Hello, I was trying to install a new Virtual Control based on the version 4.x using the new CtrlX Work 4.4.0 release but I was not able to find it in the list on available version. If I create a Virtual Contro using the last usable version 3.6.6 I'm not able to instal the new 4.4.x apps ( i.e. Motion , Plc , ect ) How can I do it ? Hello, I have a ctrlX Core and two ctrlX Drives that are controlled via Ethercat CoE I am testing to assign to these drives a manual Ethercat Address like the one showed in the picture, In fact, this 1005 address is automatically assigned if I click on "Disabled" and then the Ethercat goes to OP "Running", However If I change to "Configured station" and select a 1005 / 1006 address then the Ethercat does not recognize the drives So the question is, if this possible/compatible? Can I select the Ethercat addresses that I want using the ctrlX IO Engineering? If the ctrlX drive is handled by another CPU can this be done or is it a drive limitation? This is a request from a handful of customers who run linux workstations and would prefer not to install a Windows VM to test the virtual Core. Customer want Serial setup for ctrlX Engineering. Same as we have for Indraworks Engineering. We can Use Indraworks, bus as we now working with ctrlX I prefer to use ctrlX Engineering. The shortcut to start is is in the ctrlX Directory I can use it. But to save and use (serial setup) projects I have to buy a license. The license for indraworks 15 serial setup is accepted. I can buy a license, but its a Indraworks 15 license. With Number R911396394. Do we have a license for ctrlX and does that have the ctrlX naming in it or do I have to use the Indraworks 15 license ...? This serial setup is also used when you want to load parameters over a command prompt. Hi, I have a CtrlX CORE3, which uses ethercat to communicate with slaves. There is another PLC on the line with which we have to communicate, it is a Keyence KV5500, which - I was told - is capable of ethercat communication. The 'future proof' method of connection would be to have Ethernet/IP (which is default for the Keyence) for the CtrlX, but I was told it is not possible under CORE3, only on the big brother, and we do not have the time to switch PLCs. We were thinking if it is possible to add the Keyence PLC as slave under the EtherCAT Master of the CORE3? Other solution would be to just relay the communication between the two PLCs. The Keyence knows RS-232 / RS 422 / RS 485, so that could be a solution, but we do not have that modul in the current CtrlX config. Is it possible to add another PLC under the ethercat master of the CtrlX, and then freely configure on how many bytes we communicate between the systems? Hello, our customer Cama is evaluating our CtrlX system and one of the features they liked most was the possibility to almost completely virtualize their machine cycle using the CtrlX Virtual Core, but testing it they found that sometime making the cycle trace using the PLC trace in out PLC Engineering has lags compared with the same cycle trace done on a real CtrlX Core. They asks us if there is any way, settings or something else they can use to make the robot trace on the virtual control always as it is in the real CtrlX core eliminating delays and lags in the trace result. This is very important for then because they need to simulate their macine cycle before the real machine commissing on the floor. I encountered a problem while reading an array of structures from the DataLayer - please see the attached video. As you can see in the PLC, I have an array named "arBoards_Class_1" and each item of that array is a structure. Values for each item of this array look like this: { "bActive": true, "uiAmount": 0, "rLength": 0, "rPrice": 0, "enSegregate_Type": "NoSegregation", "uiSegregate_Addr1": 0, "uiSegregate_Addr2": 0, "enClass": "Class_1", "uiIndex": 1 } Only the uiIndex is incremented by 1 (which results in the same value as the array index). When I read the single address of this array (single structure), all the data is returned correctly. But when I access the whole array at once, the data is skewed. It seems almost like the DataLayer shifts some bytes, which is causing the data to be incorrect. Even the structure under the second address in that array is incorrect. It should be bActive:=TRUE and uiIndex:=2. But instead it's FALSE and 1. Also, around the index of 9, you can see that the actual value of uiIndex is all over the place, being assigned to different variables. I found out about this error while reading the data in NodeRED, but as you can see, this problem also exists in the DataLayer's browser in the Core's web interface. Also in the browser, you can see errors "Value is not accepted" referring to the enumerator's numeric value not being defined in the enumerator's definition. But that is a secondary problem and only happens because DataLayer returns skewed data, so the enumerator is assigned a value for which there is no definition. I attached: An export file with definitions and declarations required to recreate this structure in the PLC (make sure to run the program in a task and export the PerVar to DataLayer via SymbolConfiguration) A JSON file with the response from DataLayer when asked about the whole arBoards_Class_1 content Video showing differences between the returned value when accessing a single item vs the whole array My app versions. I am using ctrlX DRIVE Engineering 01V34.0, and ctrlX IO Engineering 3.6.0. I tried saving the EtherCAT SoE StartUp list in ctrlX DRIVE Engineering. When I import it into ctrlX IO Engineering I get incorrect values. For example in the drive I have S-0-0032 set to 11, when I import the file it has a value of 17. I looked at the XML files, the one saved in DRIVE Engineering has decimal values, and the one saved in IO Engineering has hexadecimal values. Any help would be appreciated. This would be a nice feature to get working as it would greatly reduce the effort required to generate the startup parameters list. 606/20/2025Error during installation of ctrlx work

Hi, I am using CtrlX version 2.6.4. How can I add parameters to the MDT and AT channels of the CtrlX drive in IO engineering? I need velocity and torque feedback as well as reliable status bits for in-position, standstill, and reference. Is this possible, or must I try and access the parameters directly from the PLC? I am asking this because I noticed that the status bits in the Axis Interface don't seem to update, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you, 204/11/2025Init state after restart/booting ctrlX (2.6)
