In various public and private facilities, automated locker systems have been successfully deployed to provide secure storage for personal belongings while ensuring easy access and real-time monitoring. A recent implementation of this system at a major shopping mall showcases how ctrlX AUTOMATION optimally handles locker access and monitoring.
The challenge faced by the facility was to implement a secure, user-friendly, and scalable locker solution that could handle varying access methods (QR code and PIN), monitor locker statuses in real-time, and integrate seamlessly with the facility's existing access control systems.
To meet these demands, the ctrlX CORE was implemented as the central unit, controlling the electromagnetic locks and interfacing with magnetic sensors. The lockers were equipped with both PIN code input and QR code scanners, providing flexibility for users. When a user scans the QR code or enters the PIN code, the ctrlX CORE verifies the input and triggers the output module to unlock the locker.
The system continuously monitors locker status with the help of magnetic sensors. If a locker door is left open for an extended period, the system automatically triggers the lock, ensuring security. Additionally, the system integrates seamlessly with the facility's building management system via OPC UA, enabling real-time updates and synchronization between the locker system and other access control platforms.
