Fire detection is a crucial part of the safety infrastructure in modern buildings. Traditional fire alarm systems, however, have limitations, especially in large or complex buildings. The goal of this solution was to develop AI-based fire detection that could be integrated into existing fire alarm systems and enable automated responses, such as alarm activation and control of fire protection components. The solution had to be efficient, cost-effective, and work with standard IP cameras to ensure quick response and precise fire prevention.
The system uses standard IP cameras that capture video signals and send them to the ctrlX COREplus X3. The ctrlX COREplus X3 is equipped with an integrated Hailo AI chip, which processes the AI-based fire detection locally without needing a cloud connection. This local processing ensures quick response times and high availability.
The solution includes ctrlX I/O modules to trigger output functions like alarm activation or control of fire protection components. The system supports protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, OPC UA, ModbusTCP, and Profinet, allowing seamless integration into existing fire protection systems and building management systems (BMS).
Another key feature of the solution is its modularity and scalability. The system can easily be adapted and expanded to meet future requirements. Furthermore, it can be easily retrofitted into existing fire protection systems thanks to support for multiple communication protocols.
